Reminders

Nudges on your phone and watch for water, food, check-ins, weigh-ins and workouts, that stay quiet once you have done the thing.

Reminders give you a tap on the shoulder during the day. They arrive as notifications on your phone, and on your watch if you wear one.

Every reminder checks your day before it goes off, and stays quiet once you have already done the thing: no water reminder after you have hit your goal, no “log your lunch” once lunch is logged. That is on for every reminder unless you switch it off.

What you can be reminded about

  • Water, protein and fiber: measured against your daily goals.
  • Eating enough: a gentle evening check when you have eaten a lot less than your calorie goal, because eating too little costs muscle and energy. You choose how much counts as enough.
  • Logging meals: a nudge when breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack is not logged yet.
  • Daily check-in: mood, hunger and side effects, plus last night’s sleep if you track it. A night your watch already synced does not count as checking in, but it does mean sleep is not asked about.
  • Weigh-in: on the mornings you choose. A reading from a connected smart scale counts.
  • Workouts: on your workout days, unless a workout is already logged, including one your watch recorded.
  • Evening wrap-up: one notification at the end of the day listing anything still to log, instead of several.
  • Shot day: your existing shot reminder, shown on the same page so every reminder is in one place. It covers each medication with an injection schedule, and lists when each one is next due.

Setting them up

  1. Open Coaching in the sidebar, then Reminders, or use the card on your dashboard.
  2. Tap Start me off for a ready-made set, or add the kinds you want from Add more reminders.
  3. Turn on notifications for this device when asked. Do it on each phone or computer you want reminded.
  4. Change anything: the time, the days, which meal, or the wording. Every change saves as you make it.

Each reminder reads as a sentence, like “Remind me about water at 2:00 pm every day”, and underneath it says what it would do if it checked right now, from your day so far: “At 900 ml of 2 L so far. It would remind you.” Water, food, the daily log and workouts each also have a small link to their reminders, right beside them.

Doing it from the notification

  • Water: +250 ml or +500 ml, logged without opening anything. You get a quick confirmation with your new total.
  • Meals: Same as last lunch logs exactly what you had last time. I skipped it stops that meal’s reminders for the day.
  • Protein, fiber and eating enough: tap through to your own usual foods and log one at the amount you last had.
  • Weigh-in: tap through and type your weight. That is the whole thing.
  • Every reminder also offers Snooze 1 hour and Done for today.

In a browser you see two buttons, in the Tirzing app three. On iPhone, notifications do not show buttons, so tapping one opens a small page with the same big buttons. Reminder buttons work for a few hours after they arrive.

Today, at a glance

The Today strip shows every reminder due today, which ones went out, which were held back and why (already done, quiet hours, too close to another one), and which are still to come. If a reminder had nowhere to go because notifications are off everywhere, your dashboard says so.

Keeping them in their place

  • Quiet hours: nothing is sent overnight. 10 pm to 7 am to start with.
  • How many: a daily limit, and a minimum gap so two never arrive back to back. A reminder held back by the gap goes out a little later instead.
  • Pause for today or for three days, or switch a whole kind of reminder off and keep its settings for later.
  • Rough day: only water reminders for the next 24 hours, for the days when a side effect has you down.
  • Discreet: shows “You have a quick check-in waiting” instead of the details, on your lock screen and your watch. It covers your shot reminders too.

In your companion’s voice

If you have a companion, it writes your reminders, using its name and its own voice: the firefly is gentle, the axolotl calm and the otter playful. Under When and how, Written by lets you pick a dramatic or deadpan voice instead, or plain wording to switch it off. The page shows an example of each as you choose.

Eating-enough and shot reminders always keep their plain wording, and discreet mode still hides everything on your lock screen.

In the Tirzing app

Reminders arrive as app notifications, sorted into their own groups (water, food, check-ins, workouts), so you can quiet one kind in your phone’s settings and keep the rest. If notifications are switched off for Tirzing, the Reminders page tells you and takes you straight to the setting.

On your watch

Your phone passes its notifications on to your watch, so there is nothing to set up. In the app, the Reminders page shows when a watch is connected, with a button into its app on your phone (Galaxy Wearable, Pixel Watch or Wear OS) in case Tirzing needs allowing there. If you use Tirzing in a browser, allow that browser instead. On Android the buttons come along too, so you can log a glass of water from your wrist. Send a test on any reminder is the quickest way to check.

Water, protein, fiber and eating-enough reminders measure against your daily goals. If one says there is no goal yet, set it on the Food & water targets page first.
